Mounted flat on the wall, this bookshelf takes the shape of a leaf caught mid flight. Carved veins split the body into long cells that narrow to a point at one end and open into ledges at the other. Those ledges are where a small plant, a clay pot or a couple of books sit. Seen against a dark wall the walnut looks almost coppery, and the ribs cast their own shadows across the plaster.
The wing is carved from solid hardwood, cut and hollowed so the veins keep real depth instead of being routed into a flat panel. No veneer and no printed pattern anywhere. Because each one is made after you order, the grain running down your veins is particular to that board. We photograph the shaping as it happens and wait for your approval at each stage.
