Tree Form Bookcase with Branching Open Arms

This bookcase reads as a tree cut down to its essentials. A thick central trunk rises off a flat plinth, then splits into arms that flatten out into small shelves at different heights. Four of those arms hold books, a framed print or a lidded box, and the voids between them are as much of the design as the wood itself. The walnut carries a warm brown tone with pale sap streaks near the top.

It is carved from solid timber, trunk and branches alike, with no veneer and no printed figure anywhere on it. The piece is made to order in our workshop, so the grain pattern running up your trunk is unique to your bookcase. Photographs of each stage go to you for approval before the next cut is made.

Because the arms stick out, we ship the piece disassembled and wrap each section on its own. That reduces the risk of knocks in transit and keeps the crate smaller, so freight stays reasonable.
