About this piece
A long live edge slab lies across a base carved to look like a root system caught mid movement. The base gathers into two knuckled columns on the left, opens into a wide arch, then thins to a spur that meets the floor on the right. Most of the slab reaches past that support as a clean cantilever, which keeps the right end of the table visually light. Colour is deep brown with pale sapwood lines running through the ridges.
The slab and the base are both solid wood, worked with gouge and rasp rather than moulded or wrapped in a printed sheet. Nothing about the base repeats, since it is carved rather than turned. Your table is started only after your order comes in, so the knots and ripples in your slab are the ones your board happened to carry.
