Ribbonfold Console Table, Hand-Shaped from Solid Walnut

One length of walnut folds back on itself at the left end, rising in a soft S to carry the upper slab and dropping again to meet the floor. The lower tier steps out to the right and ends in a block holding two deep drawers. Look at the fold and you can follow the grain travelling around the bend in one run, which is what tells you the curve was cut from real stock rather than bent sheet.

Every part starts as solid walnut boards. Nothing here is veneer and nothing is printed to imitate figure. The curved section is rasped and sanded by hand until the arris softens and light slides along it evenly. Because each console is made after you order, the pattern in your fold will not repeat on anyone else's. Photographs come to you from the bench at each stage, and the next step waits until you say yes.
