About this piece

A fan of carved cells opens out from a narrow root at the left and spreads wider toward the right, ending in two long pointed shelves. Each cell is a soft sided opening with a flat floor, so books stand upright and pottery sits level. The walls between cells thin down as they run outward. Grain travels with the sweep of the fan and shows a reddish cast where the light rakes across it.

Everything is worked from solid hardwood, cut and shaped at the bench rather than pressed or moulded. There is no veneer skin and no printed figure. Each unit is made to order, so the pattern you get comes from the specific boards laid out for your piece. During the build we send progress photos and wait for your reply before the next stage.

The fan arrives split into carved sections rather than one large body. Packing it that way protects the fine tips and brings the shipping cost down. Printed instructions for putting it back together sit inside the crate, and you can email us if anything looks unclear. Delivery is free worldwide, tracking is emailed when it leaves us, and returns run for 30 days.

At each step we wait for your approval: only when you are happy do we move to the next stage, and the piece ships the same way. Until production starts, you can cancel at no cost.

Delivery is free worldwide, with tracking emailed the moment it ships. Assembly is simple, with clear instructions and hardware included. If you ever get stuck, write to hello@burlholt.com and our team walks you through it step by step.

Built by hand in our Southeast-Asia workshop from solid hardwood, then finished to order.

Dust with a soft cloth and condition the wood with a light coat of furniture oil once or twice a year.
