Stacked Ribbon Bookshelf with Alternating Open Bays

The frame folds back on itself like a ribbon set on edge. Each bay opens to one side, then the next bay opens to the other, so the shelves reach past each other in a slow zigzag from floor to top. Every turn is rounded rather than mitred. In the photo the walnut goes dark and heavily figured inside the curved returns, then lightens across the flat shelf faces where the light hits them. Books, framed art and a few small vessels sit in it without any of the bays feeling packed.

Every part is cut and shaped from solid hardwood. No veneer over board, no printed grain. The bends are worked by hand until the inside of a curve feels the same under your fingers as the outside. We begin your piece after you order, so the figure you receive comes from the boards picked for your build and no other. As the work moves along, the workshop sends photos of each stage for you to approve before we continue.

It travels disassembled, with shelves and returns packed as separate parts. That keeps the long edges safe in transit and holds the freight cost down.
