Tapered-Leg Coffee Table with Lower Display Shelf

Some rooms want quiet furniture. This one keeps a low profile: a gently curved rectangular top, four legs raked outward at a modest angle, and a full width shelf slung underneath for books, baskets or a stack of trays. The surface runs smooth right to the rounded corners, so nothing snags a passing knee.

Legs and stretchers are cut from solid stock and worked down to a taper by hand, then mortised into the frame so the joint carries the load instead of a bracket. The top itself is jointed from solid boards, sanded flat and finished with a wipe on oil that draws the warm red brown out of the grain.

We begin the build when your order lands, in the size and finish you choose. Legs, shelf and top travel as separate parts, which keeps them safe and lowers the freight bill. Threaded inserts are already fitted, so assembly is mostly turning a hex key while following the printed guide. Support is a message away if a leg sits proud.
