About this piece
Run a hand along the front edge and it dips, rises and cuts back in, following the line of the original board. The base is the surprise: two thick uprights carved into open arches, so the table appears to rest on curves rather than legs. From the side it reads more like a low sculpture than living room furniture.
Top and base come from the same run of timber, blocks jointed into panels and then carved so the grain flows from surface into arch without a break in colour. The arches are cut, rasped and sanded by hand, which is why no two come out identical. A close, low sheen finish protects the wood and keeps the figure readable.
Built to order, in your choice of size. The top separates from the base for the journey, so the carved arches travel protected and the freight stays reasonable. Fixings and a short guide come in the carton, and joining the two parts takes minutes with one helper. Questions during assembly reach a real person at the workshop.
