Sit on the rug and the surface lands right at hand height. It is a low square block, hollowed along each side so the shape stays light on the eye even though the timber is genuinely thick.
Heavy solid wood sections are glued up into one body, then the openings are cut and the whole exterior is worked round. Spalted markings and dark grain streaks travel across the top and turn the corner down the sides. The finish sits thin on the wood, so what you touch is timber rather than coating.
The workshop only cuts a table once it has been ordered. Shipping happens in flat packed sections with every corner protected, which is at once the safest way to move a heavy piece and the least costly. Reassembly is straightforward using the fittings and printed steps included. Anyone who gets stuck can reach a real person at our end.
