About this piece
One half is a slab that arches over and dives to the floor in a single sweep. The other half rests on a squared drawer box that reads almost like a separate piece pushed underneath. The gap between them lets light through and keeps the weight of the wood from feeling heavy.
Thick solid stock is laid up and clamped into the arch, then shaped back with rasp and sanding block until the curve holds a true line from top to floor. The drawer runs on wooden guides. Oil finish only, so the dark ribboned figure stays right at the surface.
Each order starts a new build rather than pulling stock off a shelf. The arch and the drawer unit travel as two protected parts, which keeps the long curve out of harm and cuts what you pay to ship it. Joining them is a straightforward job with the guide enclosed, and help is a message away.
