The top is dead flat. Everything below it moves. The base rolls through a long S curve, dipping toward the floor in the middle and lifting again at the ends, so a teapot or a bonsai sits perfectly level on a piece that otherwise looks like it is still in motion. Two small drawers tuck under the left side, and the space between the waves stays open.
The curve is why the build takes time. Solid walnut is laminated into blocks thick enough to be carved into a flowing form without weak points, then the whole underside is shaped, scraped and sanded until the wave passes cleanly from one side to the other. The drawers are hand fitted with pull free fronts to keep the line quiet. A hand rubbed oil finish brings the chocolate and amber streaks forward and leaves the pores breathing. Work begins on your console once the order is placed.
It arrives in components rather than as one large curved mass. Splitting the top from the wave base keeps the delicate sections safe in transit and holds the shipping cost down. The parts align on dowels and draw together with the included fittings, guided by an illustrated sheet, and one helper makes it easy. Reach out any time during assembly and our team will step in.
