About this piece

The top steps down in stages, from a tall bay on one side to a low ledge on the other, and the whole outline is drawn in soft curves rather than corners. Books stand in the deep end. A bonsai and a small ceramic sit where the profile flattens. Binoculars and stones fill the shorter cubbies between.

Each level is cut from solid wood blocks laminated into slabs, so the stepped profile is worked out of real thickness instead of applied to a panel. Open pores are sealed and the surface left honest, letting the darker streaks and the lighter sapwood read clearly. Made only after you order.

The console arrives in flat sections, which protects the stepped edges and keeps freight reasonable. Joints are pre-fitted and numbered, the guide shows the sequence, and a screwdriver plus a second pair of hands finishes the job. Write to us at any point and we will walk you through it.

At each step we wait for your approval: only when you are happy do we move to the next stage, and the piece ships the same way. Until production starts, you can cancel at no cost.
