Round Eagle Medallion, Carved Wood Wall Sculpture

A full circle, and the carving uses every inch of it. An eagle drives forward out of the center with its wings thrown back, and the space around it fills with long ribbons of drapery that curl toward the rim like smoke. Small raised stars sit scattered across the upper folds. There is no straight line anywhere on the piece.

Solid blocks are joined into one round body of wood and then carved by hand until the ribbons stand clear of the ground. The surface is finished so the figure of the timber follows the curves, and in the tail feathers the grain runs the same direction the carving moves. Every medallion is made once the order is confirmed.

Round pieces are vulnerable at the rim, so yours travels disassembled and cushioned rather than fully built. It also keeps the shipping cost sane.
