Look at the edges before anything else. Every shelf keeps the wandering line the log had when it was cut, so no two sides of this console run parallel. The tiers are staggered rather than stacked, one slab reaching left, the next dropping and reaching right, which leaves open room for records, magazines and a bowl without any of it looking crowded.

All of it is solid wood: thick slabs and a set of turned legs that taper to a point, joined so the frame can be low and still carry a wide screen. Sanding stops short of erasing the character, then a soft finish brings up the red and amber tones already in the board. The mineral streaks and the darker figure are part of the tree, not a stain applied on top.
