Interlocking Loop TV Console with Curved Walnut Feet

Two loops lean into each other at different heights, one taller and set back, one lower and pushed forward, and where they overlap you get a drawer and a pair of open bays. It looks less like cabinetry and more like a length of ribbon that was moving and then simply held still.

The warm reddish tone comes from the timber itself rather than a stain. Thick blocks are laminated, then carved and sanded through progressive grits until the loops read as tubes with no visible seam. The single drawer is hand fitted so it closes with a soft push of air. A clear penetrating finish is rubbed in and cured, which is what makes the wide sweeping grain across the end panels visible from across the room. Nothing is prebuilt and warehoused, so figure and colour vary honestly from piece to piece.

The console leaves the workshop in sections. That protects the sculptural loops on the road and keeps freight from costing more than it should. On arrival the parts locate on dowels and pull together with the supplied fittings, following an illustrated sheet. Two people and a soft blanket on the floor is the whole setup, and support is a message away if a joint needs coaxing.
