Hand-Sculpted Loop Base TV Console with Drawer Bank

One end of this console rests on a complete loop of walnut, a ring that carries the top the way a wheel carries an axle. The other end is a plain two drawer cabinet with softened corners, so the piece is sculpture on the left and storage on the right. Between them a floating shelf sits inside the ring, holding books at exactly the height you reach for them from the sofa.

The loop is formed from solid wood laminations built up in layers, then carved and sanded until the joint lines disappear into the curve. The top, the shelf and the drawer box are cut from the same stock so the colour holds together across the piece. A matte hand applied finish keeps the figure sharp without adding any plastic shine.

Each one is made to order and shipped in pieces, with the loop packed on its own because that curve is the part worth protecting.
