Assembly & Care

Assembly. Each piece ships in parts for safe transit and assembles easily, with clear instructions and the hardware included.

Care. Dust weekly with a soft dry cloth. Once or twice a year, wipe on a thin coat of furniture oil and buff off the excess. Wipe spills promptly. Avoid silicone sprays and supermarket polishes.

Placement. Keep the piece away from active heating vents and constant direct sun, in a room with reasonably stable humidity. Full care guide

Shipping & Return

Shipping. Free on every order, worldwide. Estimated delivery is 12 to 17 business days: 7 to 10 to prepare your piece and 5 to 7 in transit. Orders placed after 5:00 PM PST are processed the next business day. Tracking is emailed within 1 to 2 business days of dispatch.

Changes. To change or cancel an order, email hello@burlholt.com within 6 hours of placing it.

Returns. Return an unused piece within 30 days of delivery, in its original condition and packaging with all hardware. We cover return shipping for items that are defective, damaged in transit or incorrect. Custom or personalized pieces cannot be returned. Approved refunds are processed within 2 business days of inspection.

About this piece

This one is built from straight runs and sharp changes of direction rather than round curves. The frame zigzags upward, and where it turns it forms two cradles that hold books on a slant, spines fanning along the angled floor of each bay. The top shelf pushes out to the right and finishes in an upright fin. At the bottom the frame closes into a large open rectangle with soft corners, which gives the piece a heavy foot to stand on. The walnut figure runs diagonally across the faces and follows each fold.

Every section is cut from solid hardwood and shaped by hand, including the angled cradle floors that would be simplest to fake with a wrapped panel. We do not use veneer and we do not print grain. Your bookshelf is started once your order comes through, which means the run of figure across your facets is not repeated on any other piece we build. The workshop photographs the work stage by stage and sends the images to you to approve before continuing.

Shipping is done disassembled. The frame comes apart into sections that pack flat, so the sharp corners are protected and the crate stays small enough to keep the freight reasonable. Printed assembly instructions are included in the box, and our team replies by email if you need a hand. Free worldwide delivery on every order, a tracking number emailed at dispatch, and 30 days to return.
