About this piece

Walnut is doing most of the work here. The ribbons lie close to the wall, so the eye follows grain rather than shadow: dark streaks pulling through the wide bends, lighter figure opening along the tapered ends. One side rolls into a closed hook, while the other stretches out into long thin tendrils.

The form is built from solid blocks joined edge to edge, then carved down until the joins read as one continuous flow. Sanding takes the surface to a soft, open finish that shows the grain honestly, including the small shifts in color that only real wood has. Every order is made from scratch, so no two ever match exactly.

Because the ends are fine and the span is long, the piece is packed in separate sections. It costs less to send that way and arrives in far better shape. Assembly means lining up the sections against the wall and fixing them in place, with hardware and a written guide supplied. Two people and a level make it straightforward, and support is a message away.
