The Shape a River Leaves: Carved Wall Sculpture

Not a straight edge anywhere on this piece. The outline itself waves, tall and narrow, curving in at the waist and swelling out again like water finding its way downhill. Inside, parallel channels follow that same rhythm, and a single teardrop void opens near the center where the wall shows through.

Cutting a silhouette like this means carving the whole form from solid hardwood, blocks joined into one mass and then shaped together so the channels flow past the joins unbroken. The finish keeps the natural grain in view, and you can see it change character as the surface turns, dark along the shadowed troughs and honey-bright where the light rakes across. Each sculpture is made after the order comes in.

Delivery is in sections for safety, since the narrow curves are the parts most at risk on a long journey, and shipping flat also keeps the cost sane.
