The Feather That Never Falls, a Walnut Wall Relief

It reads as a feather before anything else. A long spine runs the width of the piece and the barbs lift off it in curls, each one thinning to a point fine enough to see light through the gap behind. Where the carving pulls away from the wall, a warm line of glow follows the whole underside.

Solid walnut is joined into a single blank, then the spine and every barb are carved out by hand. Those points cannot be rushed, and they are the reason the piece looks light despite being cut from heavy stock. A low sheen finish keeps the grain showing along the shaft where the figure is strongest. Carving begins once your order is placed.

The feather ships in sections so the barbs carry no load in transit. Putting it together is a matter of setting each section on its mount and following the sequence in the printed guide. All hardware is included. Anyone comfortable hanging a heavy mirror can manage it, and we will help by message if not.
