Sweeping Swirl Wall Art, Cut Through at the Center

Broad ribbons of wood sweep down the panel from the top left, coil into a tight rotation just above center, and release again in long curves toward the base. Right at the pivot the wood is cut all the way through in a soft teardrop shape, and that piece of empty wall becomes part of the composition. Edges along both sides ripple instead of running straight.

The slab is made from solid wood blocks joined together and then carved, with the swirl running across the joins so it behaves as one surface. Each ribbon is rounded and sanded to a slow satin sheen, so the light travels along it rather than stopping at a hard edge. Blond and cocoa tones alternate through the curves, which is the figure of the timber showing through the finish.
