Stillwater Rondel Carved Lake Scene Wall Sculpture

A circle changes how a wall reads, and this one is cut as a full round disc. Inside it, two figures sit in a canoe on open water while gnarled old trees lean in from both edges and a low bank of forest closes the far shore. The trees are cut in the deepest relief; the water is barely raised at all, just long grain running flat toward the middle.

The round is formed from solid wood blocks joined together, then shaped and carved so the outer edge stays clean while the interior gains depth. Foliage is textured with fine chisel work, water with long shallow passes. The finish is kept thin so the natural figure of the timber does the coloring, and every piece is carved to order.
