About this piece
A stag stands on a ridge with his antlers thrown back, looking off across a valley. Behind him the slab is left almost untouched: burl swirls, knots and the raw live edge stand in for distant weather. Firs crowd in from the left in high relief, and further off the trees shrink to small incised marks so the scene keeps running to the edge.
The base is solid wood blocks joined into a wide slab, chosen for figure rather than uniformity. The stag and the near trees are carved proud of the surface, the far ridge in shallow lines. Colour comes from the wood itself, honey across the open field and darker through the burl, and the clear finish leaves every void and fissure visible instead of filling them in.
This piece carries real presence, so it suits a room where you can stand back from it. It ships disassembled and padded to protect the antlers, the most exposed part of the carving, which also keeps freight sensible. Reassembly is simple, instructions come with it, and the team helps if you would rather not guess.
