Slim Carved Wall Sculpture for a Narrow Entryway

Narrow walls are hard to dress, and this one was built for them. A tall plank of honey toned wood carries three oval voids stacked up its length, each ringed by concentric rims that spiral inward like current around a stone. It fills a slim run of wall beside a door or at the end of a hallway without crowding it.

Solid wood blocks are joined into a single plank first, then carved through so the openings show the wall behind them. Every rim is smoothed by hand until the transitions are continuous. The finish is kept close to the timber so the warm figure of the grain stays the loudest thing on the piece. Work begins once your order is in.

It comes in sections rather than one long board, which spares the thin bridges between the openings and keeps freight reasonable. The sections join and sit on the supplied hardware in a straight vertical line. Instructions are included, and support is on hand if you would like a second pair of eyes on the fit.
