About this piece

Put it on the wall that never quite holds a room together. The panel breaks the usual square with a torn, live outline down both sides, and inside it a run of walnut folds rolls from corner to corner, thick enough at the crests to throw real shadow across the flats.

Solid wood blocks are joined first, then the whole face is carved as one so the waves pass over the joints without breaking stride. The finish is kept thin, which lets the dark streaks and open pores of the walnut come through as they are. Nothing is stocked. Each panel is carved to order.

Because the silhouette is irregular, the panel is built and shipped in sections so no fragile point takes the weight of the crate. On the wall the sections align on their mounts and read as one surface again. Guidance is included in the box, and support is a message away if a joint needs coaxing.
