Assembly & Care

Assembly. Each piece ships in parts for safe transit and assembles easily, with clear instructions and the hardware included.

Care. Dust weekly with a soft dry cloth. Once or twice a year, wipe on a thin coat of furniture oil and buff off the excess. Wipe spills promptly. Avoid silicone sprays and supermarket polishes.

Placement. Keep the piece away from active heating vents and constant direct sun, in a room with reasonably stable humidity. Full care guide

Shipping & Return

Shipping. Free on every order, worldwide. Estimated delivery is 12 to 17 business days: 7 to 10 to prepare your piece and 5 to 7 in transit. Orders placed after 5:00 PM PST are processed the next business day. Tracking is emailed within 1 to 2 business days of dispatch.

Changes. To change or cancel an order, email hello@burlholt.com within 6 hours of placing it.

Returns. Return an unused piece within 30 days of delivery, in its original condition and packaging with all hardware. We cover return shipping for items that are defective, damaged in transit or incorrect. Custom or personalized pieces cannot be returned. Approved refunds are processed within 2 business days of inspection.

About this piece

The backing board is dark, quiet walnut. Sitting on it is something much lighter: a mass of pale timber worked into ribbed, rolling folds that billow past the board on both sides, the way a cloud spills over the edge of a window frame. Each fold is scored with fine parallel lines, so from across the room the cloud looks combed, and up close it looks carved.

The cloud is built from solid wood blocks joined and then carved down through the layers until the ribs emerge, while the panel behind it is left broad and plain to give the eye somewhere to rest. Both parts are finished to keep the real grain in view, the dark board reading almost like slate and the cloud staying warm and open. Every one is made after your order goes in.

The cloud and the board ship separately in protective packing, which guards the delicate rib edges and keeps the shipping bill honest for a piece of this width. The two parts meet with pre-set fixings and a short instruction sheet, and it hangs on a cleat that spreads the weight. Ask us if you want a second pair of eyes on the layout.
