About this piece

The surface here reads like weathered stone under the fingertips. Contour lines flow down the tall panel in long parallel runs, gather where the carving tightens, then drop into a deep smooth hollow near the top. Nothing is cut through. All of the drama comes from depth alone.

The slab starts as solid walnut blocks joined into one body, then the contours are cut and refined by hand until every line has its own edge. Sanding and sealing keep the natural grain on display, so the pale streaks running through the ridges belong to the tree rather than to a stain. Each panel is made to order.

It travels in sections, which keeps the fine ridge lines safe and the freight sensible. Assembly is a short job with the hardware and instructions supplied, and our team is happy to guide you if a section will not seat. It fits well on a bedroom wall or in a study where you sit close to it.
