About this piece

Wood this gnarled comes from the parts of a tree that grew around obstacles rather than straight up. The panel keeps that history: root like ridges twist across the surface, growth rings pile into tight knots, and one irregular opening near the top lets the wall breathe through.

Solid walnut blocks are joined into a tall two part field before the carving begins, then the ridges are shaped by hand and the surface is sanded back so the burl figure reads clearly. Nothing is painted on. The pale streaks and dark pools are the wood's own record. Every piece is made to order.

It ships disassembled, which is the safest way to move a carved surface with this much relief, and it keeps freight sensible. The two halves meet on a clean seam with the fittings and instructions provided, and our team can help if the join needs adjusting. It rewards a tall wall in a hall or beside a staircase.
