Nested Spiral Walnut Wall Relief with Open Center

Ring after ring winds inward across this upright panel, each ridge tucked inside the last, until the whole spiral empties into an open oval near the top. The border is left uneven the way a slab of timber falls, so the composition never feels cropped. Raking light exaggerates the depth, and the piece looks noticeably different in the morning than it does under a lamp.

Solid hardwood blocks are joined into one panel before any carving starts, then the spiral is worked across the whole surface as a single gesture. The finish stays close to the timber so the ripple figure remains visible inside the carved hollows, and no two panels share the same pattern because no two boards do. To keep the deep ridges safe on the way to you, the work is shipped disassembled, which also keeps freight from getting heavy in every sense.
