Looping Ovals and Pods in a Framed Wood Wall Relief

Come close and the shapes read almost like polished bone. Smooth ribbons loop across the field, swell into rounded pods, and taper off to fine points, with two openings cut clear through to the dark wall behind. A flat carved border runs around the outside and keeps all that movement contained.

The relief is carved from solid wood blocks joined into one slab, then shaped and sanded by hand until every curve reflects light evenly along its length. The finish leaves the grain running visibly through the pods rather than sealing it under a film. Each piece is carved to order, so the figure follows the boards it came from.

It ships in sections instead of one heavy framed slab, which keeps the slender tapered points safe and the freight sensible.
