About this piece

The slab keeps its natural outline. Both long edges wander instead of running straight, and inside that irregular border an eagle climbs with wings raised, wing feathers cut one over the next, talons closed. Below the bird the surface drops into a ridge of rock and pine, so the whole scene reads as height.

Blocks of solid timber are joined into a single tall board and then carved through several depths, the eagle standing proudest and the ridge sinking back behind it. A light finish is used so the swirling figure of the wood stays legible, and in places the grain itself becomes cloud behind the wings. The piece is carved after your order is placed.

Because the wing tips carry the finest carving, the panel is shipped disassembled and packed in sections. That protects the detail and keeps the freight bill reasonable. You will find the fixings and a short assembly sheet inside, and support is available by message if a step does not go smoothly.
