About this piece
Thick slabs stack into six bays, and every slab keeps the natural line of the log along its front. The side profile is carved into deep waves, so the piece reads differently as you walk past it. Sapwood runs pale along some of the edges while the heart of the board stays a deep red brown, and one shelf carries a dark knot hole right through the surface. It is wide enough to work as a room divider, with open bays on both faces rather than a closed back.
The slabs are solid wood, cut and shaped by hand. The waves are not pressed or bent, they are carved out of the mass of the board, which is why the end grain shifts direction as the curve turns. Nothing is veneered and nothing is a printed grain film. We begin the work after your order lands, so no two of these carry the same figure. Photographs go out from the workshop at each stage so you can approve the piece as it takes shape.
The bookshelf is broken down into separate slabs and uprights for shipping. Packing it that way protects the live edges and reduces what the freight costs. Printed assembly instructions are packed in the crate with the parts, and email support is there if you want a second look at a step.
