About this piece
Two uprights fork upward from a shaped floor slab, one shorter and set forward, one taller and reaching over the top like an antler. Between them the wood spreads into cradles that hold books tipped at an angle, and a small flat platform sits between the forks at chest height for a single vessel. Down at the bottom the slab widens into a low plate for a bowl and a stack of books. The walnut in the photo runs light along the raised branches and turns much darker where the wood thickens near the base.
The uprights and cradles are shaped from solid hardwood with hand tools. Because the branches taper along their length, the wood is carved down from thick stock rather than assembled from thin parts, and the grain runs unbroken from the base into the tips. No veneer, no printed grain. Your piece is made after you order, which means the figure that appears in your branches is decided when we open the boards for your build. Stage photographs are sent from the workshop for approval before work continues.
Shipping is disassembled. Uprights, cradles and the base slab are crated as separate parts so the tapered tips are not carrying load, and the smaller package keeps the freight down.
