Drifting Ribbon Wall Sculpture in Warm Grained Hardwood

There is no panel behind this one and no frame around it. A single wide ribbon of wood twists and doubles back across the wall, lifting at both ends like cloth caught in a gust. The hollows on the underside hold shadow while the outer faces catch the light, so the whole piece looks like it is still moving.

Solid wood blocks are joined into one long mass, then the ribbon is carved out and thinned by hand until the curves run smooth from tip to tip. The surface is finished close to the wood so the long grain follows every turn. Each sculpture is made to order and no two ribbons fall in exactly the same way.

The piece ships in separate sections to protect the slim flared ends and to keep freight from getting out of hand. The parts join with the supplied fittings and instructions, and our team can talk you through the sequence if you would like a hand. It carries a long dining wall or a wide empty stretch above a console.
