Deep-Relief Eagle Carving on a Tall Walnut Wall Panel

This one is built tall and narrow, the kind of panel that fits a pier of wall between two windows or beside a door. An eagle drops toward its perch across the upper half, wings thrown wide and feathers cut in long overlapping strokes, while the lower half is left as open figured timber that reads like a canyon wall.

Solid blocks are edge joined into one column of wood, then the bird is cut in high relief so the leading wing lifts well clear of the background. The finish is kept close to the timber, so the amber and cocoa streaks in the grain stay part of the composition. Since every panel is carved to order, those streaks fall differently each time.

The panel is sent out disassembled, both to keep the projecting feathers safe and to avoid the cost of an oversized crate. Brackets and a clear instruction sheet are included, and two people can hang it comfortably. Message the workshop at any point if the fit needs adjusting.
