Curled Swell Wave Wall Sculpture in Solid Walnut

No rectangle sits behind this one. The wave carries its own outline, curling around an open center so the wall shows through where the water would be, with foam crests breaking along the upper arc and a run of smaller waves rolling around the lower half. Shadow does half the work, and the shape shifts as light moves across the room.

It is cut from solid wood blocks joined into a single mass, then carved down until the crests stand clear of the body behind them. The long flowing lines follow the natural grain instead of fighting it, which is why the water looks like it is running. The surface is sanded fine and sealed with oil, warm to the touch and open enough that you can still feel the grain. Carving begins when your order does.

Sculptural work like this ships as separate carved sections rather than one fragile whole, which protects the thinnest crests and keeps freight down. Wall hardware and a fitting guide are included.
