About this piece
Seven carved ridges ring an open oval at the middle, each one stepping back a little further than the last. The outline never settles into a rectangle. It swells and dips like a cloud caught mid drift, pale along the crests and warm copper down in the troughs.
The relief is carved from solid wood blocks joined edge to edge, then worked down until the rings run across the joints as one continuous surface. Sanding stops at the point where the grain reads clearest, so the finish sits close to the wood rather than covering it. Each piece is cut after the order comes in, which is why no two carry the same figure.
It travels in sections instead of one wide slab, which protects the carved edges and keeps freight sensible. The sections meet on their wall mounts and close into a single form once hung. Written instructions come in the box, and our team will talk you through it if a section gives you trouble.
