Branching Trunk Bookshelf with Cantilevered Shelves

A carved trunk runs up the middle, hollowed through in two places so you can see past it, and shelves push out from it left and right like limbs. The lower right shelf is the longest and carries a full row of books. Below everything, a wide slab lies across the floor and runs out to the right as the foot of the piece. In the photo the wall behind glows warm where light spills around the trunk, and the walnut figure ripples along the hollows where the carving cut deepest.

Trunk, limbs and floor slab are all solid hardwood, shaped with hand tools. The hollows are cut out of the body of the wood, so the grain wraps around each opening rather than stopping at a joint line. Nothing here is veneer and nothing is a printed grain. Because the piece is made after you order, the pattern that appears when we open the boards for your trunk is yours only. The workshop photographs each stage and sends it for approval before carrying on.

For shipping we take it apart. The trunk, the limb shelves and the floor slab travel as separate packed pieces, which keeps the thin shelf tips safe and holds the freight down. Printed assembly instructions come in the crate, and email support is there for any step that reads unclear. Delivery is free worldwide, tracking is emailed once it leaves, and returns run 30 days.
