About this piece

Hang it behind a desk or above a long credenza and the room settles. The ribbons run almost the full width of the piece, weaving over and under each other in a slow braid that never quite repeats. Light slipping behind the wood picks out the crossings and leaves a soft glow along the lower edge.

The weave is carved, not assembled from separate strips. Solid walnut is joined into one blank and then material is taken away until the strands appear to pass through one another. That approach takes longer but keeps the grain running continuously across the crossings. Each order is made from fresh stock.

Expect it to arrive in parts. Long carved forms travel badly in one piece, so the sections are packed individually and joined once they are on the wall. Everything needed to mount it is supplied along with instructions, and support is available by message if a section is not lining up.
