About this piece
A square framed case holds three open shelves, and below them two cabinet doors carry a carved wave relief that rolls horizontally across both fronts. The carving is deep enough to throw its own shadow, and the grain follows the wave so the ridges catch light along their crests. Above, the shelves are plain and flat, with books stacked and a pot or two. The case stands upright and narrow, taller than it is wide.
Case and doors are made from solid wood. The wave is cut into the thickness of the door itself, not applied as a moulding or printed on a panel. Each piece is built after you order it, so the figure running through your wave belongs to your boards. The shop photographs each stage and waits for your approval before moving to the next.
It ships flat and in parts, with the doors packed away from the case sides so the carved faces stay clear of everything else. Smaller parcels also cut what you pay in freight.
