Book-Matched Boards, Carved Into a Rolling Sea Wall Panel

This one wants a long wall. Swells run the full width in carved bands, one wave curling over on itself near the center with its tip breaking into fingers of foam, and the rest reading as much like wind moving over dunes as open sea. Two panels meet in a fine seam that all but disappears once the piece is hung.

Both halves come from solid hardwood blocks joined and carved together, and the boards are matched so the figure carries across the seam instead of stopping at it. Deep gouge work sets the swells, then hours of hand sanding smooth the crests before an oil finish brings up the darker walnut tones. Because it is carved after you order, your waves follow your own boards.

It ships as two panels rather than one large piece, packed and padded, which keeps the carved edges intact and the shipping reasonable.
