Wood Chairs: Buying Guide

This collection holds one idea: a wooden chair should outlast the trend that made you buy it. Each one is a wood frame joined at the mortise, not screwed through the seat, cut from solid stock and finished by hand.

Getting the wooden chair right for your space

Fit the room first

Most pieces in this collection are sized for the dining room or living room. Measure the wall or floor space you can give the piece, then check it against the largest dimension listed on the product page. Each size shows its own price, so you can compare before you commit.

Worth knowing before you order

Upholstered versions need the fabric checked separately for durability. The frame is the part that is solid wood.

Care takes one line

Dust with a soft cloth and condition the wood with a light coat of furniture oil once or twice a year. Small marks buff out over a weekend, and the surface only looks better for the use.

What the collection covers

The designs run from dining chair to accent chair and rocking chair pieces, all cut from the same solid stock. If you are building the whole room around wood, the same grain and construction run through our wood candle holders and wall arts, so the space can carry one idea from wall to wall.

The case for solid wood

The honest comparison is simple. Particle board with a printed skin cannot be repaired, only replaced. A solid hardwood wooden chair can be sanded, re-oiled and handed down. One is a purchase cycle. The other is a purchase.
