Live Edge Headboards

A live edge headboard puts the outline of the tree at the top of your bed. The upper edge is left as the board came off the log, waving in and out, with pale sapwood following the line. The face is flattened and sanded so it stays comfortable to lean against, but the profile is never straightened.

The panel is 54 inches wide, 31.5 high and 2 inches thick, which suits a full or queen frame. Measure from the top of your mattress, not the floor, and allow the headboard to stand roughly 20 to 24 inches above it so pillows sit against wood rather than wall. The range comes in black, oak, brown and walnut. The choice matters more here than on a small piece, because a headboard is the largest single surface in most bedrooms. Oak keeps the room light, walnut and brown deepen it, black turns the panel into a silhouette against a pale wall.
