The walnut is worked so the surface flows without a break from one pod into the next, and the light slides along the rounded edges instead of catching a corner.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe whole form is shaped from solid hardwood. It is carved down from mass, so the walls of each opening change thickness as the shape demands, which no veneered panel can do. There is no printed grain anywhere on it. Work starts once your order is in, which means the pattern of figure across the pods belongs to your piece alone.
