The hollows on the underside hold shadow while the outer faces catch the light, so the whole piece looks like it is still moving.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eSolid wood blocks are joined into one long mass, then the ribbon is carved out and thinned by hand until the curves run smooth from tip to tip. The surface is finished close to the wood so the long grain follows every turn. Each sculpture is made to order and no two ribbons fall in exactly the same way.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe piece ships in separate sections to protect the slim flared ends and to keep freight from getting out of hand.
